Over 400 Participate in Opening Day of Early Voting

According to Macon County Election Commissioner Barry Doss, 334 votes were cast on the opening day of the last county general election in 2010.

As of press time, a total of 618 early votes have been tallied for the August 7, 2014 State Primary & County General Election.

A breakdown by day is as follows:

7/1 – 7/17: 26 early voters, 4 by mail voters (Total: 30)

July 18, 2014: 407 early voters; 6 by mail votes (Total: 413)

July 19, 2014: 175 early voters; 0 by mail voters (Total: 175)

Doss would like to remind everyone that early voting ends on Saturday, August 2, and to ask for assistance if you have any problems while voting.

“When voting, if you don’t see the name of a candidate you want to vote for, ask for help,” Doss stated. “Don’t push the red button until you’ve voted for who you want to vote for. Once you punch the red button, your vote is final.”
