Eight-Month-Old Easton Goad Needs Our Prayers

Little Easton began having issues with his blood platelets last spring, and he spent 12 days at Vanderbilt Hospital while doctors worked to diagnose him.

When he was released, he continued to have issues with his blood count and platelets, often leading to blood and/or platelet transfusions.

On Saturday, August 23, Easton’s parents took him back to Vanderbilt when he began showing new symptoms, and doctors scanned his body, paying special attention to his liver.

After his diagnosis on Tuesday, a treatment plan involving chemotherapy was developed, which began August 29.

Easton is scheduled for multiple rounds of treatments to address his liver cancer. To help assist the family with medical expenses, multiple fundraisers are either in the works or have already been scheduled. A t-shirt sale with the logo ‘Prayerful and Positive’ was held a couple months ago.

Working with the Red Cross, the family also organized a blood donation drive in honor of Easton. Jed and Leslie are so grateful for all the help they have received and, with all of the blood transfusions Easton has had to have, it was an event the family wanted to set up in order to pay it forward to the Red Cross.

Two drives were held for the community to come out and donate blood to the bank in honor of Easton.

Currently, chances for a a Rutger American Rifle are available at Antlers & Feathers and from David Flynn at the Board of Education.

There have also been many donations and events held at local schools, including a ‘Hats Off To Easton’ at Macon County Junior High School on Friday, August 29, a silent auction/car wash/road block held earlier this year by members of the First Baptist Church of Red Boiling Springs and a Silpada Jewelry sale fundraiser held by Silpada Jewelry Representative Ramona Welch and Andrea Flynn. All proceeds from these events are being collected for the family.

Currently being planned is a home football game fish fry as well as a 5K Run/Walk. More information about these events will be available closer to time.

Anyone interested in keeping up with Easton’s progress is invited to join his Facebook group, Easton Goad’s Page. All the latest news and event schedules are posted to the group.

Jed and Leslie would like to thank everyone for such an overwhelming amount of support and most of all the many prayers that are being offered up for Easton. They ask everyone to continue praying for Easton’s recovery thru this treatment process and to join them in being ‘Prayerful & Positive for Easton’!
