RBS Beats Goodpasture 16-15

Red Boiling Springs defeats Goodpasture 16-15 for the first time in history.

The Bulldogs played a great game on both sides of the ball.

The game started off with Goodpasture getting the ball first. The Dogs would force the Cougars to punt to get the ball back on the 25 yd line.  Following the drive, Justin Bergdorff would take it 4 yards for a touchdown to put the Bulldogs on the board first 8-0 with 5:53 left in the 1st quarter. After trading possessions, Good pasture would recover a fumble to get the ball back on the 30 yd line to end the first quarter. The 2nd quarter would begin with Goodpasture tying the game on a 1 yard run 8-8 with 9:01 left to go in the first half. RBS would get the ball back on the 38 yd line. On this drive Logan Hewitt would get picked by the Cougars. The Bulldogs would force Goodpasture to punt to get the ball on the 50 yd line to end the half at 8-8.

Red Boiling Springs would receive the ball to open the second half. After trading possessions, Goodpasture scores on a 49 yard run to put them up 15-8 with 8:17 in the 3rd quarter. The 4th quarter would start off when the Dogs recover a fumble to get the ball on the 26 yd line with 10:00 left to go. Following the Cougar turnover and a RBS punt, Quinton Goad recovers another Goodpasture fumble at the 41 yard line.  Red Boiling Springs would score on the next possession and tack on the conversion to lead 16-15 with 1:40 left to go. The Cougars would march down to the Bulldog 20 yard line. Goodpasture attempts a game winning field goal as time expires but did not convert. The Bulldogs get a big district win with a final score of 16-15.

The key players were: Justin Bergdorff 8 rushes for 100 yards and 1 TD,  Michael Tirjan 10 rushes for 90 yards, and the entire Bulldogs Defense playing big. Red Boiling Springs will play Clinton County next Friday night at the Dogpound with game time scheduled at 7 pm. Come and support your Dogs!
