Senior Night for MCHS Soccer

10-7mchssoccer

The 2014 Macon County High School Ladies Soccer team finished the season on a high note.

The team was able to pick up two more wins on the season.

On Monday September 29th the Tigerettes traveled to Gamaliel to play Monroe County. After winning earlier in the season 5-2, Macon hit the Lady Falcons early and hard. Before the evening was over Macon had notched a 9-1 victory. Scoring were Bailey Porter(3), Lora Darnell(3), Jacy Russell, Sarah Morgan, and Alexus Sarmiento.

The Macon County High School Tigerettes Soccer team celebrated their senior night with a 2-0 win over the York Institute Lady Dragons. The Tigerettes first goal was a penalty kick taken by Bailey Porter when freshmen Sarah Morgan drove the ball deep into the goal box of the Lady Dragons only to be fouled before she could make her crossing pass. Macon County held on to finish the half ahead 1-0.

At half time, the Tigerettes celebrated the hard work and accomplishments of three senior players and one senior manager. Karry Day #21, Emilie Harris #55, and Brittany McClard #20 each played four years for the Tigerettes Soccer team. Senior, Maxine Hinds, has been invaluable as a team manager this year, and plans to be a manager for the Macon County High School Boys’ Soccer team this spring. We wish all of these fine young women the very best in their future endeavors!

The Tigerettes were playing much more aggressive in the second half and put many more shots on goal. Bailey Porter scored another goal, but it was disallowed by the referee because he did not see it go in the net. Lora Darnell was able to finish a goal with less than a quarter to go in the game to put Macon County up 2-0. On the defensive end of the field, freshman goal keeper Katrina Carey made some gutsy saves, and at times sacrificed her physical safety to keep the Lady Dragons scoreless. It was a memorable night for a team that has improved each week. Well done ladies!

Macon County should face Watertown, at home, next Saturday October 11th to open play in the District 8 A-AA post-season.
