Tigers Win over Cannon County

The Macon County Tigers get a big win over the Cannon County Lions.


The victory puts the MCHS District 8AA record at 2-1 and currently tied for 2nd in the district.

Macon chose to receive the opening kick-off. Marching downfield with a purpose, freshman quarterback Seth Carlisle scores from 6 yards out and Brandon Noles tacks on the PAT. With 9:21 left in the 1st period, Tigers lead 7-0. Macon fumbled on their next possession inside the red zone, but the defense forced a Cannon 3 and out. With 2:30 left Seth Carlisle scores from 30 yards out and the PAT by Noles is good. At the half Macon leads 14-0.

Again on their first possession of the half, Macon goes on a long sustained drive. Seth Carlisle sneaks the ball across from 3 yards and Noles PAT is good. Macon leads 21-0 with 5:02 left in the 3rd period. Carlisle would add a fourth score at the 9:20 mark of the 4th quarter and Noles would convert, Macon led 28-0. Coach Nathan Wilson tried to get subs in as early as possible, while the Lions kept their starters on the field.  Cannon would score on a 71 yard pass with 0:10 left to make the final score Macon 28 Cannon 6.

For the game Seth Carlisle was 12 of 21 passing for 102 yards while Tanner Cleary was 3 of 4 for 23 yards with 1 interception. Carlisle rushed 18 times for 140 yards and 4 touchdowns. Dale Turner added 8 carries for 65 yards and Sophomore Jason Sewell had 7 carries for 18 yards. Brandon Noles led all receivers with 3 catches for 32 yards. Tyler Carlisle had 4 receptions for 22 yards, Tannery Cleary had 2 for 24 yards, Trace McPherson had 2 for 13 yards, AJ Simpson had 2 for 11 yards, Turner had 1 for 11 yards, and Sewell had 1 for 12 yards. Lineman Jessie Gregory, Gage Carr, and Linebacker Tanner Lowhorn led all tacklers with 5 each. Braxton Crawford and Brandon Graves had 4 each. Chase Whittemore, Tyler Swindle, and AJ Simpson had 3 tackles apiece.

The Tigers showed improvement in all facets of the game and improve to 3 and 3 for the season. They have an excellent chance get to the post-season with continued good play against district opponents in the next three games, two of which are at home for the Tigers. This week Macon hosts 8AA opponent Upperman at Pat Parker Field. Come out and show your support for the Tigers as game time is scheduled for 7 pm.
