Tigerette Volleyball Wins District 8AA

altThe Macon County High School volleyball team played in the district tournament last week in Livingston.

The Tigerettes defeated Central Magnet in the semi-finals. Scores for the match were: Set 1- Macon 25 Central 20, Set 2- Macon 24 Central 26, Set 3- Macon 25 Central 15, Set 4- Macon 25 Central 17. For the game Jordyn Patterson logged 41 assists while Kayley Scruggs had 17 kills and 13 blocks. Kristin Flippin had 4 aces and 22 digs.

The two top teams in this district met in the championship game. Macon and Livingston each had a win during the regular season. Match scores were: Set 1- Macon 25 Livingston 19, Set 2- Macon 22 Livingston 25, Set 3- Macon 25 Livingston 15, Set 4- Macon 25 Livingston 16. Patterson had 28 assists, Flippin had 9 aces and 14 kills, and Ashton Swindle had 6 blocks.

MCHS Head Coach Brittny Dodson said, “This team set a goal to be ‘District Champions’ and I am very proud of them for their hard work and dedication throughout the season to achieve that goal.” Besides capturing the district title, Jordon Patterson, Ashton Swindle, and Jordan Shockley were named regular season All-District. Kristin Flippin was named District MVP. Patterson, Shockley, and Kayley Scruggs were named All-Tournament for the District Tournament and Flippin was named tournament MVP.

The Macon County Tigerettes will host the Region Tournament this week. On Tuesday October 14th Macon County will play Chatanogga Christian at 4 pm. Signal Mountain will play Livingston at 5:30 and the Region championship is scheduled for 7 pm. Come out and enjoy some volleyball and root for the Tigerettes Tuesday night.
