11-18mchsbb

The 2014 basketball season is underway at Macon County High School.

The Tigers and Tigerettes hosted Gordonsville on Monday November 11th at Nera White Gymnasium.

The Tigerettes came out firing. These girls attempted eight shots from behind the arc, and hit three. Scoring from four of the five starters pushed Macon to a 14-9 lead after one. In the 2nd period the bombs continued as they hit 4 of 8 three pointers, enroute to a 20 point quarter. At the half Macon led 34-16. Both teams slowed a bit after the intermission. However, the depth and athleticism of Macon proved just too much for Gordonsville. Most of the two benches finished the last quarter and a half. Final score Macon 51 Gordonsville 27.

Scoring for the Tigerettes was: Paige Clark 6, Reese Shrum 11, Briley Driver 9, Leah Anderson 2, Lyndsey Belton 11, Kyndall Bullington 3, Sarah Carter 4, Jenna Russell 1, and Luci Allen 4. Kassidy Brooks, Marisa Owens, Kinsley Green, Mattie Goolsby, Kaylynn Dalton, and Keeley Clariday all played but did not score.

If you like high octane basketball, I think you will get a tank full with this year’s Tiger team. This squad came out of the gate ready to run. After the first period Macon led 18-10. Gordonsville hung tough and scored the first 8 points of the second period but the Tigers got back on track and pushed the lead out to 38-23 at the break. In the third period Macon shot 9 of 17 from the field and scored 24 points and led 62-31 at the end of the 3rd and pretty much put this game out of reach. For the game the Tigers attempt a staggering 78 shots from the field despite committing a number of fouls. Final score Macon 86 Gordonsville 38.

Scoring for Macon was: Michael Ashburn 13, Evan Perrigo 16, Alex Hill 8, Nick Hill 4, Kendrick Carter 6, Trace McPherson 4, Clay Carnahan 10, Tyler Carlisle 5, Tyler Gann 3, Riley Phillips 4, Matt Hudson 3, and Heston King 10. Matt Austin and Jed Coley played but did not score.

This week Macon will host Trousdale Co on Tuesday the 18th and travel to Westmoreland on Friday November 21st. Game times are scheduled for 6 pm.
