02-03mchsbb

The Macon County High School Tigers and Tigerettes were in action as they enter the next to the last week of the regular season.

Macon would travel to DeKalb County and Central Magnet for the 8AA contests.

On Tuesday the 27th Macon traveled to Smithville. The Tigerettes were ready to get back in the win column as four of the five starters scored in the first period. Maintaining a balanced scoring attack and playing good defense Macon led 26-19 at the half. Both teams would have a poor shooting 3rd quarter but the Tigerettes were able to close out this game by going 11 of 14 from the charity stripe to get a 54-43 victory.

Scoring was: Paige Clark 9, Reese Shrum 6, Briley Driver 20, Leah Anderson 2, Lyndsey Belton 14, and Kassidy Brooks 3. Marisa Owens and Keeley Clariday played but did not score.

The Tigers must have gotten off the bus ready to shoot the ball? They came out on fire and had the game well in hand by halftime, leading 43-23. The big story of this game was that the Tigers shot 65% from the field, while hitting 10 of 20 three pointers in the game. Macon posts a season high in scoring and gets the win 94-55 over DeKalb.

Scoring was: Seth Carlisle 22, Michael Ashburn 19, Evan Perrigo 11, Trace McPherson 9, Tyler Carlisle 12, Alex Hill 6, Clay Carnahan 11, Matt Hudson 2, and Heston King 2. Matt Austin, Kendrick Carter, Riley Phillips, and Jed Coley would all play but not score.

Central Magnet’s girls remained in the top 10 in AA in the state most of the season. Despite an upset come-from-behind victory in January, the Tigerettes were simply outplayed. Magnet came out ready to play and slowly built a lead that, this time, they would never give up. Final score was Macon 24 Central Magnet 50.

Scoring was: Driver 5, Anderson 4, Belton 9, Kyndall Bullington 2, Sarah Carter 2, and Kaylynn Dalton 2. Clark, Shrum, Brooks, Owens, Luci Allen, Mattie Goolsby, and Clariday would all play but not score.

The Magnet boys have improved and did their best to make a game of it. However after a 37-32 halftime lead, the Tigers came out in the second half and put Magnet away. Final score Macon 63 Magnet 48.

Scoring was: Seth Carlisle 19, Ashburn 9, Perrigo 12, Austin 3, McPherson 16, Tyler Carlisle 2, and Carter 2. Hill, Carnahan, and King all played but did not score.

Macon County enters the final week of the regular season for their last two games. They will play York in a 1 pm game at home and host Smith County on the 5th for Senior Night for the Class of 2015.
