Two Arrested for Roles in Auto Theft

“I was on patrol last Thursday and I had already been notified of a stolen 2008 Nissan Altima in Trousdale County and to be on the lookout for it,” said Chief Terry Tuck. “I was also notified that a car tag had been taken from a vehicle at Sonic in Lafayette that could possibly be involved with this case.”

Chief Tuck said he was on the Lafayette Road when he observed the suspicious car sitting at the RBS Market gas pumps and he immediately contacted dispatch to verify the tag number. “I came back around and determined it was the tag taken from Sonic,” said Tuck.

“I approached the vehicle and it was occupied by two female subjects and I briefly spoke with them concerning the vehicle,” stated Chief Tuck. “I verified from the VIN number that it was the vehicle taken from Trousdale County.”

“I knew one of the subjects, but I wasn’t familiar with the other,” noted Chief Tuck. “Officer Kyle Petty with the Macon County Sheriffs Office came to the scene and we detained the two females. I notified Trousdale County Detective Chaney Wright and he also traveled to the scene to process the vehicle.”

Tuck said that based on his investigation so far, he charged Chelsea Smith and Latosha Flashner with theft over $1,000 and under $10,000.

Chief Tuck and Officer Petty transported the two female suspects to the Macon County Justice Center where they were booked.

Charge are also pending from the Lafayette Police Department and the Trousdale County Sheriffs Office.

This is an on going investigation.
