alt

Despite all the rain this past week, the Red Boiling Springs Bulldogs played in five games.

They faced Watertown and Monterey early in the week and Middle TN Heat on a Saturday afternoon game.

On Apr 13th RBS hosted Watertown. The Bulldogs just gave up too many runs early. This game was over in five innings by a final score of Watertown 14 RBS 1. Bailey Anderson pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up 5 earned runs on 5 hits and Brince Crouch went 2 1/3 innings giving up 4 earned runs on 5 hits. Cameron Cothron went 2 for 3 and Logan Hewitt went 1 for 3 and got the sole RBI for the Bulldogs.

On Apr 14th the Bulldogs traveled to Watertown. Watertown picked right up where they left off and won 10-0 in 4 ½ innings with a no-hitter. Logan Hewitt pitched 3 innings and gave up 3 earned runs on 7 hits. Chance Asberry went 1 inning and gave up 4 earned runs on 5 hits.

On Apr 17th Monterey came to town for a double header. In the early game RBS scored early and often, plating eight runs in the first two innings. That would be enough as they get the non-conference win by a final of 8-3.  Asberry gets the win pitching 4 innings and scattering 8 hits and 2 earned runs with 5 strike-outs. Logan Hewitt pitched 1 inning with 2 strike-outs as well. Asberry helped his own cause going 1 for 3 with 2 RBIs. Dustin Bergdorf, Hewitt, Bailey Chapman, and Skyler Holden all had one hit and scored one run.

The late game against Monterey was much closer. With Red Boiling leading 2-1 after three innings, the Bulldogs plated one in the 4th and another in the 5th to seal the victory. Final RBS 4 Monterey 1. Brince Crouch pitched 4 innings giving up one earned run on 5 hits and had 7 strike-outs. Dustin Bergdorf and Crouch both went 2 for 3 in the game with 1 RBI each.

On a relatively dry Saturday afternoon, Red Boiling Springs hosted the Middle TN Heat. The Heat had a huge 2nd inning, scoring 5 runs. The Bulldogs would score runs in the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th innings but just couldn’t get enough. The Heat wins 7-5 over the Bulldogs. Holden pitched 1 2/3 innings and gave up 5 earned runs on 3 hits and 3 walks. Anderson pitched 1/3 of an inning and gave up an earned run on one hit. Asberry finished the game, going 5 innings and scattered 5 hits with no earned runs scored. Nick Deckard went 3 for 4 with an RBI and Asberry went 2 for 4 with one run and one RBI.

This week the Bulldogs are scheduled to travel to face the Heat on the 21st and Macon County on the 23rd. They are to play at Cumberland Co on the 24th and Clarkrange on the 25th.
