MCHS Baseball Ends Regular Season
The Macon County High School Tigers ended their regular season this week.
They faced Central Magnet and Red Boiling Springs before heading into the 8AA postseason.
On Apr 27th the Tigers traveled to 8AA #1 seed Central Magnet in Murfreesboro. The recurring theme of errors plagued the Tigers once again as they lose the game by a final score of 4-7. Justin Woodard pitched 4 innings, scattering 3 hits facing 20 batters and giving up 2 earned runs. Brandon Noles came on in relief for 2 innings and gave up 1 earned run on 2 hits. Larkin Whittemore went 1 for 4 scoring 1 run and Woodard went 1 for 4 with 1 RBI.
In their final game, the Tigers say goodbye to this year’s seniors. Kole Cliburn, Jessie Gregory, Larken Whittemore, Justin Woodard, Daniel Ashburn, James Stewart, Jacob Brown, Brandon Noles, Hunter Williams, and Kristopher Boone and their parents were all recognized before the game on Tuesday. Thanks to these players for a great season and good luck in the future.
Central made the return trip on Apr 28th in a very entertaining and competitive contest. Jake Reeves pitched a whale of a game going 7 innings and giving up all 4 earned runs on 7 hits. With the score tied 2-2 in the top of the 7th inning, Central broke thru on a two out rally. Final Central 4 Macon 2. Jacob Brown went 2 for 3 and Kristopher Boone went 1 for 3 and scored a run. Woodard had both RBIs.
The Tigers last scheduled game was at Red Boiling Springs. Jessie Gregory pitched 3 innings and gave up 5 hits and 2 earned runs while Stetson White went 3 innings and gave up 2 earned runs on 4 hits. Austin Herbert came on in relief and pitched the last inning. Eleven different players had hits in a shootout. Clay Carnahan went 2 for 3 with 3 RBIs and Aaron Coulter also had 3 RBIs. The Tigers win 16-11, despite being out hit and committing one more error in the game.
The Tigers will be playing in the 8AA postseason tournament which is scheduled this week. It is scheduled to be played at Upperman High School.
