The Macon County High School Tigerettes have advanced to the Region 4 playoffs.

They finished the regular season as the #4 seed heading into the 8AA postseason tournament.

In the first game of the 8AA Tournament on May 1st the Tigerettes faced Central Magnet. With Paige Clark pitching, the Tigerettes were able to collect their third win of the season over Magnet. Jordan Shockley went 2 for 3 scoring 1 run while Senior Karry Day went 2 for 3 with 1 RBI. Jenna Russell, Sarah Carter, and Morgan Turner all had RBIs as well. Tigerettes advance with a 4-2 win.

On May 4th the Tigerettes faced the Lady Owls from Smith County, a team they had also swept in the regular season. Clark again was on the mound to get the victory. Turner went 2 for 2 and Makenzie Mercer went 1 for 3 but had both RBIs. Marching on Macon wins 2-1.

On Tuesday May 5th the Tigerettes faced the top ranked and regular season champs DeKalb County. The only district loss for DeKalb came late in the season at the hands of the Tigerettes. Clark again threw a highly competitive and hotly contested game. Carter went 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs, Brandi Garmon and Russell both went 1 for 3 and scored runs. However the Tigerettes came up just short, losing 2-3.

Facing elimination or advancement, the Tigerettes played against #3 seed Cannon County. Something happened on the way to this game, as the Macon bats exploded. Clark went 4 for 5 with 4 RBIs, Garmon 3 for 4 with 3 RBIs, Mercer 3 for 4 with 3 RBIs, Russell 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs and Carter 3 for 4 with 2 RBIs. The Tigerettes had to feel good as they clinch a Region 4 playoff spot with a 12-2 thrashing of Cannon County once again behind a well pitched game by Paige Clark.

Facing DeKalb County in the finals, Macon could have used a few of their 21 hits from their previous game. With only 5 hits in the contest and Brandi Garmon pitching a good game, Day went 2 for 3 and had 1 RBI but it just wasn’t enough. DeKalb grabs the 8AA #1 seed with a 9-2 win.

The Tigerettes were also given some awards. Paige Clark and Makenzie Mercer were named 1st team All-District while Clark, Jordan Shockley, and Jenna Russell were name All-Tournament. Keeley Clariday was named to the All-Freshmen team. Clark was named Offensive Player of the Year and Co-MVP in 8AA.

The Tigerettes are now scheduled to face the #1 seed in 7AA. They will play at Sequatchie County (12-12, 4-1 in 7AA) on Monday May 11th. The winner of that game will play the winner of the DeKalb versus Grundy Co game for the Region 4 title on Wednesday May 13th.
