Junior Tigers Defeat DeKalb Co Saints

The Macon County Junior High Tigers thumped the DeKalb County Saints by a score of 42-0 in Smithville.


The win runs the Tiger record to 4-1 on the season.

With 4:00 left in the 1st, Ethan Jenkins had a 20 yard TD run and he made the conversion for an 8-0 lead. On the next possession Jenkins hit Curtis Oliver with a 56 yard touchdown pass. Isaac Belton converted the extra point and with 0:38 left in the 2nd Macon led 16-0. Late in the 2nd Jenkins hit Oliver again for a 41 yard TD catch. Belton converted and Macon led 24-0 at the half.

Mid way thru the 3rd period Belton capped off an 18 play drive and the conversion failed, 30-0. With the Tigers sending in their subs, Schylar Haney carried the ball for a 53 yard TD run (called back for holding), a 65 yard TD run (called back for another penalty), a 10 yard carry (run out of bounds), and a 55 yard TD run in four consecutive carries. Conversion failed and the mercy clock kept running with a Macon lead of 36-0. Ty Lowhorn would add a 4 yard touchdown run late in the 4th quarter as well. Final score Macon 42 DeKalb Middle 0.

Quarterback Jenkins was 4 of 7 for 138 yards for 2 TDs and 1 INT. Haney would lead all rushers with 4 carries (that counted) for 65 yards and 1 TD. Oliver had 2 catches for 97 yards and 2 TDs in the game. Logan Whittemore and Tyson Dyer led all Tigers with 6 tackles each and both had tackles for a loss.

MCJHS will next host the Smith County Owls on September 15th at Pat Parker Memorial Field. Kick-off is scheduled for 6:30 pm.
