Macon County Falls to Pearl-Cohn
The Macon County Tigers were beaten by the Pearl Cohn Firebirds in Nashville on September 4th.
The final score of the first Region 5 4A was 55-0 in favor of the Firebirds.
Not a lot went right for the Tigers in this contest. However, Pearl Cohn was a preseason coaches’ favorite to wind up in the 4A championship game in Cookeville in December. They are a very athletic and talented team. The Firebirds scored twice in the 1st and twice in the 2nd quarter to lead at the half 26-0.
Macon had some chances. Twice the Tigers got inside the Firebird 10 yard line but just couldn’t get it done to score. Pearl Cohn would continue to score and began substituting after their second score in the second half. Final score is Pearl Cohn 55 Macon 0.
Seth Carlisle was 7 of 17 for 43 yards and 2 INTs and 37 yard rushing. AJ Simpson caught 2 passes for 17 yards and Tyler Carlisle caught 2 balls for 5 yards. Defensive Lineman Tyler Swindle was the leading tackler with 7 and 1 tackle for a loss.
The Tigers will now host the Jackson County Blue Devils for homecoming Friday night at Pat Parker Field. Game time is scheduled for 7 pm.
