Man Shot: Leads to Guns, Drugs & Cash

It all went down during the early morning hours of Tuesday, September 15, when the Macon County Sheriff’s Department received a call from officers at the Portland Police Department stating that a gunshot victim was admitted to the Portland hospital, where he told authorities that he had been shot in Macon County.

Macon County deputies and detectives arrived on the scene where they began gathering evidence and conducting an interview with the victim.

Following their investigation, a search was conducted at a residence located on the western side of Macon County, where the incident reportedly occurred.

Macon County Sheriff Gammons, deputies and detectives recovered ten firearms from the home, two of which were handguns, along with marijuana, drug paraphernalia and an undisclosed amount of cash.

The drug paraphernalia found at the scene included rolling papers, smoking pipes and items believed to be used in the package and sale of marijuana, such as weighing scales and individual baggies.

Further interviews were conducted, and 55-year-old Rickey Jo Anderson was arrested.

Anderson was charged with aggravated assault and manufacturing of narcotics. He is scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court on September 23, 2015.

“Our department will continue to try to keep drugs off our streets,” stated Sheriff Gammons. “We encourage everyone to call the Macon County Sheriff’s Department if they have any drug-related information. Callers who report illegal drug activity can remain anonymous.”

The gunshot victim in this case was treated at the hospital for non-life threatening injuries and was released.
