Macon romps over DeKalb County
The Macon County Tigers crush the DeKalb County Tigers in a non-district game by a final of 42-7.
It was a contest thoroughly dominated by the boys in blue.
After fumbling on their opening possession, the Tiger defense held DeKalb deep in Macon territory. Seth Carlisle struck first with a 21 yard run and the kick failed. Macon led 6-0. Following a DeKalb 3-and-out Carlisle scored on his longest run of the season on a 90 yard option. The 2 point conversion from Carlisle to Evan Perrigo was good and Macon led 14-0. Following a DeKalb score early in the 2nd period, Macon answered right back on a 9 yard run by Carlisle. Marshall Avera kicked the extra point and Macon led 21-7. After another 3-and-out Matt Austin scored on an 8 yard run and Avera converted, 28-7. Not yet finished and after yet another DeKalb 3-and-out, Carlisle scored on a 36 yard run and the kick failed. Time expired in the first half, while Macon had the ball yet again, with the score 34-7.
Macon would tack on another score midway through the 3rd period as Carlisle scored his fifth touchdown on a 63 yard run. The 2 point conversion from Carlisle to Perrigo was good and that made the score 42-7. With the 35 point lead the game clock quickly expired due to the mercy rule. Final Macon 42 DeKalb 7. This was the best game the Tiger defense has played to date as they give up only 96 total yards in the game and 7 first downs to a very capable and potent DeKalb offense.
For the game Seth Carlisle was 6 of 8 passing for 122 yards while rushing 11 times for 254 yards and 5 TDs. Matt Austin added 19 carries for 104 yards and 1 TD. It is the second game in a row with two Tiger rushers over the century mark. Evan Perrigo had 2 catches for 61 yards while Tyler Carlisle had 3 catches for 60 yards. Dylan Butler led all tacklers with 6 stops on the night.
