01-26rbsbb

The Trousdale County High School Yellow Jackets made their annual trip to the Dog Pound last Tuesday night. The hosts weren’t too nice.

The Lady Bulldogs won a hard fought district game by a final score of 50-44 and this victory puts their district record to 5 wins and no losses. This victory was a hard fought win as the Lady Jackets played their A game while the Lady Bulldogs were making turnovers and their shots were just not going in the basket. The Lady Bulldogs made only 2 baskets in the first quarter. The Lady Jackets failed to take advantage of the Lady Bulldogs mistakes and a halftime score of 27-18 with the Lady Bulldogs on top would keep the Lady Jackets from regaining the lead and they never got close for the rest of the game. Hannah Smith got hot from 3 point range while Cayley Tuck had 8 second quarter points plus Macy Raines had 2 points in the quarter. The Lady Jackets got 6 points from Jamey McKoin and Makenzee Dixon had 6 points also to lead the Lady Jackets scoring.

The third quarter saw a lot of turnovers by both teams and poor shot selection kept the third quarter scoring low as the Lady Bulldogs outscored the Lady Jackets 10-7 and the game goes to the fourth quarter with the Lady Bulldogs on top by a 37-25 score. A lot of jump balls and those ugly turnovers once again dominated the action and the Lady Jackets managed only 7 points while the lady Bulldogs scored only 10 points. With no time left on the clock Trousdale County’s Rickey Harrison launced a desperate half court shot and as the horn sounded the ball found the bottom of the basket.

Trousdale County was called with 8 fouls in the third quarter and the Bulldogs responded by making 7 of their 15 points in the quarter from the free throw line.
