Meth Cooking Lab Discovered by Authorities

According to Macon County Sheriff Mark Gammons, officers were searching for a wanted individual believed to be at an apartment complex near Akersville Road in Lafayette last Wednesday, March 2.

The suspect was apprehended and officers continued their investigation into drug activity, obtaining a search warrant on March 3, 2016 for a Highway 52 West location that was not disclosed to us by authorities. 

The sheriff stated that the search warrant was served later that afternoon, at which time a meth cooking lab was discovered. 

Among the items found were salt, lithium, tubing and many other components used to manufacture methamphetamine for the purpose of resell.

A suspect was established and 49-year-old Tammy Porter was arrested and charged with promotion of methamphetamine manufacture. She is being held at the Macon County Jail on $30,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court on March 9, 2016.
