Errors Plague Tigers
The Macon County Tigers had a rough week in the field. They had games against Upperman, White House Heritage, and Trousdale County.
On Apr 4th the Tigers travelled to Baxter to play Upperman. Macon could only muster two hits (Clay Carnahan and Austin Herbert) and one walk in 24 plate appearances on the day. Freshman Logan Thompson got the start and the loss, throwing 4 1/3 innings and giving up 5 hits and 8 runs (3 earned) with 4 strike-outs. Bryson Smith came on in relief and threw 1 2/3 innings. Macon gave up a total of 7 errors in the game and lost 8-0.
Upperman made the return trip on the 5th to Lafayette. Clay Carnahan started the game and went 6 2/3 innings scattering 9 hits and gave up 7 earned runs with 3 strike-outs. Stetson White threw 1/3 of an inning in relief. Matt Austin, Tyler Gann, Michael Ashburn, and Logan Thompson had hits for the Tigers. Carnahan had the only RBI and Thompson scored the sole run. Macon drops a second 8AA game to Upperman by a final score of 1-11. Once again the Tigers commit 4 errors in the game.
White House-Heritage came to Lafayette on Apr 7th. Austin Herbert got the start and went 4 innings giving up 11 hits and 8 runs (5 earned) while Bryson Smith threw 3 innings of relief giving up 2 hits and 1 run (unearned). Down 0-9 Macon mounted a comeback and scored 6 runs in the bottom of the 5th inning but it was too little too late. Clay Carnahan went 1 for 3 with 2 RBIs while Aaron Colter went 1 for 3 with 1 RBI, and Austin Herbert had the only other hit. Macon commits a total of 6 errors in the game and loose by a final score of 6-9.
THe Tigers hosted Trousdale County on Apr 8th for the final game of the week. They lost the game by a final score of 8-15. Total stats for the game were not available at press time.
This week the Tigers have games with Livingston on Apr 11th, at Livingston on Apr 12th, Westmoreland on Apr 14th, and at White House on Apr 15th.
