Three Big Wins for Tigerettes
The Tigerette softball had a big week nabbing three victories. They faced Upperman, Smith County, and Friendship Christian.
The Lady Bees played in Lafayette on Tuesday Apr 5th. Jenna Russell scored on a sacrifice by Brandi Garmon to take a lead the Tigerettes would never surrender. After Upperman tied the game in the 4th inning, Garmon and Jordan Shockley would score on a hit by Makenzie Mercer. Tigerettes get an important 8AA win by a final score of 3-1. Jade Young gets the win as she goes the distance in the circle. She gave up 7 hits and 1 earned run. Mercer and Garmon had the only hits of the day for Macon.
The Tigerettes traveled on Wednesday Apr 6th to reigning Class A state champ Friendship Christian to make up a game originally scheduled for Mar 16th. The Tigerettes had a confidence building big victory by a score of 11-1. Russell went 4 for 5 and Garmon went 3 for 5 as the Tigerettes had 15 hits and gave up no errors in the field. Young once again pitched the distance in the 7 inning game and gave up only six scattered hits.
Macon ended up the week with another district win over Smith County. Pitching at home, Young gets her third ‘W’ of the week hurling 7 innings, giving up 11 hits, and 3 earned runs. Morgan Turner had a big game going 3 for 4 with 1 RBI and 2 stolen bases. Shockley and Mercer would have one hit and one run each. Young led the team with 2 RBIs.
This week the Tigerettes are scheduled to travel to Livingston on Apr 12th and host York on Apr 14th.
