Lady Bulldogs Claim District Win over Trousdale County
The Red Boiling Springs High School Softball team took on non district foe the Lady Panthers from Portland last week and they did not play well and lost both games to a very good Lady Panther team.
Maybe they were looking ahead to the next game against the Lady Yellow Jackets from Trousdale County which is a district game.
You never know how these Lady Bulldogs are going to respond but on this night they came to play as they rolled over the Lady Yellow Jackets by a final score of 14-4. Sometimes these Lady Bulldogs play with a chip on their shoulder and on this night they came to play.
Lady Bulldogs Traci Knight drew a walk followed by a single by Macy Raines and both scored on a double by Krystyn McMillan and the Lady Bulldogs grabbed a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. McMillan scored the third run of the inning on a single by Allison Deckard and after a wild pitch and a fielder’s choice, Deckard scored the fourth run of the inning and the Lady Bulldogs kept pounding the ball enroute to a big district win. The Lady Bulldogs added 5 more runs sandwiched around three walks and 2 errors plus hits by Chole Kramer and Maribel Mireles plus walks to Taylor Cothron and Tamara Murphy that sent the Lady Bulldogs out to a 9-3 lead.
The Lady Bulldogs coasted from there as this game was well in hand and a district win that just might allow the Lady Bulldogs to avoid a play in game come district tournament time.
Some interesting stats from this game-Traci Knight scored 2 runs and had 1 rbi-Macy Raines scored 2 runs and also had 1 rbi. Krystyn McMillan scored 4 runs and had 3 rbi’s. Allison Deckard scored 2 runs and knocked in 3 runs plus Chloe Kramer scored 2 runs and also knocked in 2 runs Maribel Mireles knocked in 2 runs. Kara Davis also scored a run.
The Lady Bulldog defensive played much better than in recent games and the pitching of Maribel Mireles kept the Lady Jackets off balance for most of the game. The Lady Bulldogs are on the road again Thursday the 14th, home for games against Monroe County on April 18th, back to Goodpasture for a big district game on the 19th, and then back home to play Clay County on April 21st.
The night of Apr 21st is a special night as 4 new members will be inducted into the Red Boiling Springs Softball Hall of Fame. Those four inductees are Leslie Porter Cowan-Ashley Porter Bartley-Sandy Curtis and Leslie Sutton Massengille. Make your plans now to attend.
