Crash Kills Portland Man

Tennessee Highway Patrol officer, Trooper Cody Ballard, was the crash investigator.

Responding to the crash site besides the THP was the Macon County Sheriffs Office, Macon County Rescue Squad, Macon County EMS, Lafayette Fire Department, and the Macon County Chronicle.

Trooper Ballard told the Chronicle that Dewayne Green, age 22, of Portland, Tn., was operating a 1999 Honda CRV on Clampett Hollow Road in the west section of Macon County, and 20-year-old Jessica Frazier, also of Portland, was driving a white 1997 Ford economy van east on Highway 52 West toward Lafayette.

“Dewayne Green failed to yield at the Clampett Hollow and Highway 52 intersection and pulled out in front of Ms. Frazier where their vehicles made contact,” explained Trooper Ballard. “Mr. Green was pronounced dead at the scene.”

Jessica Frazier, who is expecting a baby, was transported to Sumner Regional Medical Center, in Gallatin, Tn., for medical attention. She has been released.

Funeral services for Dewayne Green were held on Sunday, April 24, at Gilbert Funeral Home in Portland. He was a 2013 graduate of Portland High School.
