Stolen Vehicle, Man Jailed
According to the narrative, LPD Patrolman Derrick Gann was patrolling through the Walmart parking lot around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday night when he observed a silver Ford Expedition setting in the parking lot with Lewis County tags. He ran the registration through dispatch and the vehicle was reported stolen out of Lewisburg. He was advised that the suspect was a Ricky Coley.
Officers McClard and Gann began to move their vehicles and wait for the operator of the vehicle to walk outside. They noticed a male subject walking toward Cato, where no cars were parked. Officer McClard approached the subject and asked for his name, and he replied Ricky.
Officer Gann says in his report that the subject stated that he was Ricky Coley, but the vehicle was not stolen. The officers searched the vehicle and found, in the console, a small bag of a crystal substance, a smoked marijuana joint, and a loaded syringe with a clear liquid inside. Coley was then placed under arrest. Sewell’s Towing picked up the vehicle and stored it in his lot.
The report also says that Patrolman Gann observed that Coley kept falling asleep in the back seat of the patrol car. The suspect was transported to the Macon County Jail for booking.
While at the jail, Officer Gann tested the crystal substance, and liquid substance and both tested positive for methamphetamine.
Coley’s address was listed as Siloam Church Road, Westmoreland, Tn.
Ricky Coley was charged with theft of property ($1,000-$10,000), DUI, violation of probation, manufacturing of narcotics, possession of schedule II drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond is set at $17,500. General Sessions Court date is set for June 22.
