Junior Tigers Improve to 5-0

The Macon County Junior High Tigers improve their 2016 record to 5-0 with a win over the York Dragons.


Macon was rewared for their trip to Fentress County with a 42-6 victory.

With 6:54 left in the 1st period Ethan Jenkins scored on a 24 yard run and he added the 2 point conversion to give Macon an 8-0 lead. The Macon defense recorded a safety with 0:42 left in the period and following the free kick by York, Jenkins scored again with 0:23 seconds left in the quarter on a 41 yard run. Jenkins added the conversion and Macon led 18-0 after one. Jenkins would add another 35 yard run and conversion to give Macon a 26-0 halftime lead.

Safeties are not common but the Tiger defense recorded a second one with 3:31 left in the 3rd period. Again following the free kick Skylar Haney scored on a 42 yard run with 2:41 on the clock. Conversion failed and Macon led 36-0. On the opening play of the 4th quarter Landon Colter scored on a 49 yard run. Damien Aguirre added the Macon 2 point play and the Tigers led 42-0. The Dragons would tack on a late score and the final for this game was Macon 42 York 6.

For the night Jenkins was 2 for 3 passing for 29 yards and 1INT while rushing 5 times for 108 yards and 3 TDs. Ty Lowhorn was also 1 for 1 passing for 28 yards. Haney ran 2 times for 42 yards and a TD, Cameron Houston ran 5 times for 39 yards, and Landon Colter ran 1 time for 49 yards and a TD. Logan Whittemore, Lowhorn, and Austin Robinson all had one catch in the game. Whittemore led all tacklers with 12 and 3 for a loss.

Macon County Junior High will travel to Smith County on September 13th. Kick-off is scheduled for 6:30.
