Tigers Win Homecoming 2016

The Macon County Tigers improved to 4-2 on the season defeating DeKalb County last Friday night.


DeKalb County is now also 4-2.

The Tigers scored on their second play from scrimmage. Michael Tirjan ran it in from 67 yards and the PAT by Joey Medrano was good and Macon led 7-0. With 5:01 left in the 1st quarter DeKalb converted two big pass plays to tie the game 7-7. Three plays after the tie junior quarterback Seth Carlisle scored from 66 yards. Medrano’s PAT made it 14-7 Tigers. Following a DeKalb turnover Carlisle hit Tanner McQuery on a 37 yard touchdown pass and Medrano’s kick made it 21-7 at the end of the first period without ever picking up a first down. On the next Tiger possession Carlisle capped an 8 play 82 yard drive with a 10 yard run. Medrano converted his 4th PAT and Macon led 28-7. DeKalb scored on an 85 yard pass to cut the lead to 14-28. With just 0:26 left in the half Carlisle rushed for a 1 yard score. Medrano made the kick and Macon led 35-14 at the break.

Both teams failed to score in the 3rd quarter. However Macon went on another long drive and Branson Henry hit Tanner Cleary for a 28 yard pitch-and-catch to score with 10:16 left in the game. Medrano missed the kick and Macon led 41-13. DeKalb would tack on a late score and your final in this contest is Macon 41 DeKalb 20.

On the night Michael Tirjan had 20 carries for 208 yards and one touchdown. Ryan Carver ran 6 times for 7 yards, Eric Kuster had 2 carries for 7 yards, Isaac Belton had 2 carries for 3 yards. Seth Carlisle was 4 of 6 passing for 119 yards and a TD while he rushed 7 times for 66 yards and 3 TDs. Branson Henry came on in relief and was 2 for 3 for 24 yards and a TD while he rushed 4 times for 6 yards. Tanner Cleary caught 2 balls for 51 yards and a score. Taylor McQuery had 1 catch for 37 yards and a TD, Chris Oliver had 1 catch for 32 yards, Braxton Crawford had 1 catch for 27 yards. Crawford also led all tacklers with 6 stops. He was followed by Tirjan(5), Marshall Avera(5), and Dylan Butler(4) on the night.

Next week the Tigers travel for another region battle against the White House Blue Devils. Kick-off is scheduled for 7 pm in White House.
