On Monday Sep 26th MCHS traveled to face Pope John Paul II, a Division II private AA school. The Lady Knights proved just too much for the Tigerettes, leading 4-0 at the half, enroot to a 6-1 win. Keeley Carter scored the only Macon goal at the 19:05 mark of the second half.
On Thursday Sep 29th the Tigerettes hosted Smith County. With a Macon victory, they could clinch a #1 seed in the east half of the 11 team 8A-AA district heading into the post-season. Sarah Morgan put Macon in the lead at the 27:52 mark of the 1st half with a cross that glanced of a defender. Smith would tie the game at the half 1-1. Morgan would score her 2nd goal on a left footed shot from just inside the 16m box to give the Tigerettes the lead 2-1 at 38:10 in 2nd half. Smith County would get a break-away and tie the game 2-2. The determination of the freshman forwards came out as Keeley Carter (21:20) and Kat Kemp (2:40) scored two more Macon goals to salt this victory away. Final score Macon 4 Smith County 2. This puts the Tigerettes at 9-1-1 on the season and 5-0 in district play.
The Smith game was also the final game for four girls from the Class of 2017. Sara Satterfield, Jacy Russell, Bailey Porter and Lora Darnell all played in their final regular season soccer game at MCHS. Everyone wishes them luck and thanks them for their dedication to the program.
