Tigers End 38-Year Losing Streak at White House!
The first half was controlled by White House. The Blue Devils scored on a 4th down play with 7:21 left in the half to take a 7-0 lead at the break. They also missed a 36 yard field goal late in the half as well. Macon County did not have a good half on either side of the ball.
However, whatever Coach Wilson and his staff did at the half, it worked. Macon scored on its first three possessions to take control of this game. With 7:25 left in the 3rd Seth Carlisle ran it in from 7 yards and the PAT by Joey Medrano was good to tie the game 7-7. Following a stop by the Tiger defense, Michael Tirjan scored from 14 yards out. Medrano’s PAT was wide left and Macon led 13-7 with 4:48 remaining in the 3rd quarter. After another defensive stand, Tirjan scored again at the 11:50 mark of the 4th quarter. Carlisle added a two point conversion and Macon led 21-7. When the Tigers got the ball right back, Tirjan scored for the 3rd time from 28 yards out. The PAT was blocked and Macon led 27-6. The Blue Devils would add a score late and the game would end with the Tigers taking a knee three times inside the White House 30 yard line. Final score MCHS 27 White House 14.
In the game Michael Tirjan ran 26 times for 171 yards and 3TDs. Braxton Crawford ran 2 times for 16 yards. Seth Carlisle was 4 of 10 passing for 61 yards and he ran the ball 16 times for 89 yards and a TD. Tanner Cleary had 2 catches for 33 yards, Tirjan had 1 catch for 29 yards, Jason Sewell had 1 catch for -1 yards. Senior Linebacker Dylan Butler had a whale of a game recording 16 tackles with 1 ½ for a loss. Tyler Swindle added 7 and Cleary added 6 tackles on the night.
This game turned in the trenches. With a stagnant line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball in the 1st half, the big boys up front for MCHS made the difference in the game in the second half. So let’s give credit to Reynolds, Cannon, Whittemore, Hudson, Boles, Swindle, Lancaster, McQuery, and Alcorta for making the difference.
Next week the Tigers get a much needed week off. They will be back in action on October 14th when they travel to Springfield.
