Sheriff Issues Halloween Reminder

alt

Macon County Sheriff Mark Gammons would like to invite all trick-or-treaters and their parents to get their candy x-rayed at the Macon County Justice Center on Halloween night between 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Scanning your child’s Halloween candy is an extra safety precaution that will detect any foreign objects that could be harmful or potentially hazardous to your child.

The sheriff also recommended that adults don’t dress up as clowns for Halloween this year, as various cases of adults in clown costumes attempting to lure children have been reported across the country.

“I would like to urge everyone to trick-or-treat at houses they are familiar with and steer clear of houses with their lights off,” Sheriff Gammons stated. “Have a happy and safe Halloween!”
