Charges Filed in Head-On Collision

The 7 p.m. collision was investigated by Sgt. Ashley Mercer, of the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

According to Sgt. Mercer, Martin Perez, of Red Boiling Springs, was driving eastbound in a red Toyota pickup truck in the west bound lane. Janet Woods, of Macon County, was driving a red Chevy Cobalt west toward Lafayette and was struck head on. Both drivers were transported by ambulance for medical treatment.

Martin Perez was charged with DUI, no driver’s license, and left of center.

Responders were the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Macon County Sheriffs Office, Macon County Rescue Squad, Lafayette Fire Department, Macon County EMS and the Macon County Chronicle.
