Lady Bulldogs Open Softball season with Win over Monterey

The Red Boiling Springs High School softball team has been playing their games dodging rain drops.

Last Friday night was a perfect night for softball and the Lady Bulldogs captured a 7-1 victory over a very good Monterey Lady Wildcat team.

The Lady Bulldogs Gave the ball to their star lefthander pitcher Bailey Tucker and Tucker went the distance striking out 7 hitters and Tucker allowed no walks. Tucker came up big in the hitting with a RBI double. Tucker pitched out of a couple of jams including striking out the Lady Wildcat best hitter with the bases loaded.

Allison Deckard also had a big night with the bat by hitting a home run over the centerfield fence and her next at bat was a triple and 3 RBI for the game. Kennedy Fleming excited the crowd with a inside the park home run plus a double to give her a big night. Tracy Knight along with Abby Tuck each had a hit also. Outstanding defensive play by Kara Davis and Tamara Murphy was important because they stopped rallies and closed out the inning. Murphy also had a hit to aid the Lady Bulldog effort. This team is fun to watch because Coach Mims has these kids hustling and playing the game with some smarts. That spells success.

The Lady Bulldogs now head for spring break and will return to action playing 5 out of their next 6 games on the road. That will be the true test of this team to be able to compete with good teams on the road
