RBS Police Interrupt Home Burglary

After receiving a call from a concerned citizen, the Red Boiling Springs Policeman Department interrupted a burglary inside the city limits early Sunday morning, April 2.

According to RBS Police Chief Terry Tuck, a call came in from a citizen who stated that they could see flashlights inside the home at 231 North College Street, which was unoccupied at the time because the owner was in jail.
RBS Patrolman Mark Bartley responded to the address and upon his arrival he found 24-year-old Karley Kaye Copas, of Red Boiling Springs, and 24-year-old Robert Cody Jones, of Lafayette, already outside sitting in a car behind the residence, with stolen property in the vehicle that belonged to the homeowner.

In Patrolman Bartley’s report he stated that when he spoke to these two individuals they stated they had permission to be there and get the homeowners belongings because he was in jail. The officer called booking and spoke with the homeowner who stated that he didn’t give anyone permission to go inside his home or get his belongings.

Patrolman Bartley immediately arrested Karley Copas and Robert Jones at the 231 North College Street scene and they were transported to the Macon County Justice Center. Both suspects were charged with aggravated burglary and booked into the Macon County Jail under a $5,000 bond each.
