Lady Tigers Drop Game at DeKalb
The MCHS softball team lost their first district game at DeKalb County on March 28th.
The game was much closer than the 3-9 score indicated.
Macon would plate two runs in the top of the 1st inning. Following a single by Paige Clark, Cidney Woodard would single and drive in the first run. Makenzie Mercer would ground out and score Morgan Carter. Clark would single again in the top of the 3rd and a double by Carter would make the score 3-0 Macon after two and a half innings.
Then the DeKalb offense came alive. DeKalb would piece together singles to score two runs in the bottom of the 3rd and hit a two run homerun in the bottom of the 5th. DeKalb would put the game away and score five unearned runs in the bottom of the 6th inning, with two outs, to win by a final score of 9-3.
In the game Paige Clark threw 4 2/3 innings allowing 11 hits, and 2 earned runs. Allyson Shoulders threw 1 1/3 innings and allowed 4 hits, 2 earned runs, and had 3 strike-outs. Clark led the way hitting 3 for 4 scoring 2 runs while Carter went 2 for 4 scoring a run with one RBI. Woodard had the other RBI in the game.
This week will be a busy one as the Lady Tigers are scheduled to travel to Livingston on Tuesday Apr 3rd, travel to Upperman on Apr 4th, and travel to Smith County on Apr 6th. They will finish the week with a scheduled TN Softball Coaches Association tournament in Clarksville on Apr 7th and 8th.
