Tiger Baseball Sweeps Week

The Macon County Tigers sweep three games this week.

They played a two game series against 8AA opponent York and faced county rival Red Boiling Springs.
 
To begin the week the Tigers were able to play the York Dragons on Monday Apr 3rd. Bryson Smith gets the complete game win, hurling 7 innings allowing 6 hits, 5 earned runs, and 2 strike-outs. The Tiger bats exploded by scoring seven in the 1st, one in the 2nd, two in the 4th, and nine in the bottom of the 5th to run-rule the Dragons 19-5 for the win. Eric Kuster went 4 for 5 scoring 3 runs and 1 RBI while Aaron Colter went 3 for 3 with 3 RBIs. Everyone else in the line-up, Tyler Gann, Michael Ashburn(2), Logan Thompson(2), Trent Boles(2) Jake Reeves, Isaab Belton(2), and Austin Herbert(3), all had RBIs in the game.
 
They were able to get in the second game on the dreaded march to Jamestown for the return 8AA contest against the Dragons. Macon plated three runs in the top of the 1st before giving up five runs in the bottom of the 2nd. The Tiger offense came back to form to score four runs in the top of the 3rd and two in the top of the 6th. They managed to trade outs for runs in the bottom of the 7th inning to hang on for the 9-7 win and the series sweep. Jake Reeves threw 6 innings allowing 9 hits and 3 earned runs with 6 strike-outs to get the win. Logan Thompson also threw one scoreless inning in the game. Kuster again led the Tigers hitting 2 for 3 and scoring three runs while Trent Boles was 2 for 3 with an RBI and 1 run scored. Tyler Gann  also had 2 RBIs in the game.
 
Thanks to what some might call Redbud winter, the non-conference game against Watertown scheduled for Thursday Apr 6th was cancelled. The game has no scheduled make-up date at press time.
 
On Friday Apr 7th the Tigers hosted Red Boiling Springs. Macon batted through the line-up in the bottom of the 1st innings and scored 7 runs. They tacked a run in the bottom of the 3rd, 4th, and 5th innings to get the win by a final of 10-0. Logan Thompson gets the win throwing 2 innings and giving up one hit with three strike-outs. Trent Cook would throw 3 innings of relief and give up two hits while recording five strike-outs. Herbert would go 1 for 2 and score a run with 2 RBIs.  Smith, Conner Trent, Kade Allen, Ashburn, Cook, Colter, Belton, and Herbert would collect hits. Mason Trent, Ashburn, Colter, Boles, Tyson Dyer, and Jake Reeves would score runs.
 
This week the Tigers are scheduled to travel to Upperman on the 10th and host the Bees on the 11th. Over the Easter break Macon County will host the Straw Hat Classic on the 14th and 15th at Macon County High School.
