Attempted Murder of Macon Corrections Officer: Former inmate Matthew Beasley indicted

Matthew Beasley, age 29, of Lafayette, was indicted by the Macon County Grand Jury on charges of attempted first degree murder and filing a false report after attacking a corrections officer at the Macon County Jail, where he was being held on assault and violation of probation charges.

 

According to the indictment, Beasley intentionally, and with premeditation, attempted to kill corrections officer Chris Greenhalgh on March 21, 2017. 

The indictment further states that Beasley knowingly reported an offense or incident that he knew did not take place on March 21, 2017. 

Mr. Beasley was served with the indictment on Monday, May 1.

He is currently being held on $100,000 bond and has entered a plea of not guilty in the case.
