RBS Man Charged: Rape, Incest & Exploitation of Minor

By Jessie Williams

A 43-year-old Red Boiling Springs man has been charged with statutory rape, incest and sexual exploitation of a minor after confessing to the molestation of two of his step-daughters and his biological daughter.

Authorities first learned of the accusations made against Steven Gordy, a 4-year resident of RBS, on May 8, 2017 when his step-daughter and her mother reported to Macon County Sheriffs Department’s officers that he had been sexually molesting his step-daughter for approximately seven years.

Local detectives then began working with the Haywood County Sheriffs Department in North Carolina, where Mr. Gordy resided when some of the criminal activity took place.

“On Wednesday, May 10, Haywood County officers arrived in Macon County to work with us and detective Darrell Taylor,” Sheriff Mark Gammons stated.

A search warrant was issued, Mr. Gordy was interviewed and several pieces of evidence were gathered.

“Over 700 pornographic photos of minors were discovered,” Detective Taylor stated. “We also discovered that he had been molesting a second step-daughter and his own biological daughter. Mr. Gordy did confess to the accusations made against him.”

The case was turned over to federal authorities due to the crimes occurring in more than one state.

“It’s possible that there are more victims,” added Detective Taylor. “And additional charges may be brought against Mr. Gordy.”

Steven Gordy is being held at the Macon County Jail on $100,000 bond. Depending on future court rulings, he could remain here, be extradited to North Carolina or be transferred to a federal  facility.
