Inmate Stabs Trousdale Prison Guard

Tennessee Department of Corrections Special Agent Nathan Miller investigated a stabbing that occurred at the Trousdale Turner Correctional Center, in Hartsville, on May 15, 2017.

According to the complaint filed by Special Agent Nathan Miller, on May 15, at approximately 1:03 p.m., Trousdale Turner Correctional Center (TTCC) inmate 26-year-old Dantwan Leslie Crump assaulted TTCC Correctional Lieutenant Dennison Joe with a prison-made knife.

The complaint states that inmate Crump stabbed Lt. Joe at least four times with the approximately 7.5 inch long, sharpened metal “prison-made knife” which had a white cloth handle. Lt. Joe received at least four lacerations and multiple contusions (knots) to both arms, back, stomach, and head.

The incident was captured on video which shows the entire assault.

The complaint says that inmate Crump was interviewed by a TTCC Institutional Investigator. The suspect admitted that he had assaulted Lt. Joe because Lt. Joe had “sprayed (with OC) his homie and he had to jump in.”

According to the Special Agent, inmate Dantwan Crump is in violation of aggravated assault.

On May 16, Dantwan Leslie Crump was transported to the Trousdale County Jail where he was booked and processed. Bond was set at $1,000,000 for the aggravated assault charge. A General Sessions Court date is set for June 9.
