Prison Guard Charged With Sexual Contact With Inmate

Forty-three-year-old Andrea Juanita Caery, of Lafayette, who is a correctional officer at the Trousdale Turner Correctional Center in Hartsville, has been charged with sexual contact with an inmate, after she admitted to two separate incidents.

 

According to the affidavit of complaint filed by Special Agent Ramon Sherrell on Sunday, June 25, 2017, Andrea Juanita Caery, of Nicole Drive in Lafayette, a correctional officer at the Trousdale Turner Correctional Center, admitted, after being advised and waiving her Miranda Rights, that she had sexual intercourse with inmate Alphonso James on two separate occasions: Friday, June 23, 2017, and Sunday, June 25, 2017. 

The complaint states that the defendant, Andrea Cary, was observed on prison camera footage walking from Unit E, C-pod to Unit E, B-pod where inmate James was being housed. The defendant then entered cell 115 and stayed for approximately 20 minutes. Upon exiting, she was observed adjusting her clothes and bra.

Andrea Juanita Caery was transported to the Trousdale County Jail where she was charged with sexual contact with an inmate. Bond is set at $1,000. A Trousdale County General Sessions Court date is set for July 14.
