Great American Solar Eclipse 2017

The solar eclipse has been head-line news for weeks now, and when the moment we’d all been waiting for finally arrived, it certainly lived up to our expectations – as daytime turned into night.

As the unforgettable total solar eclipse began crossing the United States, folks in Middle Tennessee were in the path of totality as this heavenly phenomenon dazzled the skywatchers.
Folks were astonished as the landscape around them and the sky above, began to take on an odd look and then slowly darkened right before their eyes.
The total solar eclipse was undeniably the experience of a lifetime!
There were people from near and far in Macon County on Monday afternoon, and at Gibson’s Cafe and other places around town, the Macon County Chronicle spoke with individuals from Florida, Indiana, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, and Illinois just to name a few.
According to scientists this event was a window into the universe.
A total solar eclipse occurs when the moon moves between the sun and earth and by 12:20 p.m. the eclipse was already in the early stages. The path of totality stretched from Oregon to South Carolina, and it passed through Idaho, Wyoming, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina.
By 1:28 p.m. the sun was covered by the moon and according to a NASA expert, sudden darkness of totality is something you can’t compare to anything else.
This eclipse was something bigger than all of us, and I seriously doubt that anyone could have predicted just how compelling this event would be.
I for one have a greater admiration for Mother Nature and I thank her for allowing us to witness the Great American Solar Eclipse.
