Tip Leads to Stolen Vehicle Recovery

The Lafayette Police Department arrested 24-year-old Zachary Allen Woods, on September 10, after an anonymous tip led to the recovery of a stolen vehicle.

According to the Affidavit of Complaint filed by LPD Patrolman Elliot Sandifer, on Sunday, September 10, him, Patrolman McClard, Sgt. Hix, and deputies from the Macon County Sheriffs Office received an anonymous tip that a stolen vehicle was at 705 Due West Circle, Apartment A. Upon arrival Patrolman Sandifer did locate the stolen vehicle.
The complaint states that “we did made contact with Mrs. Traci Foster, who stated that no one else was in the residence. We did find a locked closet door, that was not locked when we were first at the residence.”
The complaint went on to say that Mr. Zachary Woods opened the door and was placed under arrest. Mr. Woods did resist by pulling away from the officers, and he did evade arrest by intentionally concealing himself from law enforcement. Mr. Woods tried to stomp a meth pipe that he dropped once he was placed in hand cuffs. 1.8 grams of meth, 3 syringes, and two spoons were also found in Mr. Woods’ property.
Mr. Woods’ wallet with his food stamp card was found inside the stolen vehicle.
Mr. Zachary Woods, of Siloam Church Road, in Westmoreland, was charged with tampering with evidence, resisting arrest, evading arrest, violation of probation, theft of property, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of schedule II drugs.
Bond was set at $20,000. A General Sessions Court date is scheduled for September 27.
