Trio Arrested in Kentucky

Three people from Macon County face meth trafficking and weapon charges after they pulled into a road safety checkpoint in Edmonson County, Kentucky, with a forged temporary license plate.

According to a report by Detective Wally Ritter, of the Edmonson County Sheriffs Department, on Saturday night, September 9, the sheriffs department was assisting the Kentucky State Police with a road safety checkpoint in the Rocky Hill Community at the crossroads of US 31W and Ky. Hwy. 259 South. A 2013 Chevy Cruze pulled into the checkpoint and officers noticed it had a forged temporary license plate.

The report states that 34-year-old Jason Long, of Red Boiling Springs, was operating the vehicle with a suspended drivers license. When officers searched the vehicle they found a .22 caliber pistol, multiple sets of reinforced knuckles, bagged crystal methamphetamine, scales and cash.
There were also two passengers in the vehicle, 42-year-old Ms. Etta Coffelt and 22-year-old Ms. Kaitlynn Law, both of Lafayette, Tn.
All three of the suspects were arrested at the scene and transported to the Hart County Jail.
Jason Long was charged with driving on a suspended license, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, convicted felon in possession of a handgun, trafficking in methamphetamine-firearm enhanced, drug paraphernalia (firearm enhanced), and criminal possession of a forged instrument.
Etta Coffelt and Kaitlynn Law were both charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon, trafficking in methamphetamine (firearm enhanced), drug paraphernalia (firearm enhanced) and criminal possession of a forged instrument. Coffelt was also charged with convicted felon in possession of a handgun.
All three have been released on bail.
