Vehicle Flips, Man Later Dies

Mr. Chris Richardson, age 38, died on Friday, September 22, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, from injuries he suffered in a one-vehicle wreck on September 19, in Lafayette.

According to wreck investigator Trooper Cody Ballard, of the Tennessee Highway Patrol, around 5:40 p.m. on Tuesday, September 19, Mr. Chris Richardson was heading east toward Lafayette on Highway 52 West in a Suzuki Sidekick. He ran off the road on the southbound side into the ditch line, and struck a culvert. “The vehicle went airborne and flipped over into the road,” said Trooper Ballard. “Mr. Richardson was ejected from the vehicle.”
The wreck happened just pass the White and Key Road intersection. He was alone in the vehicle.
Mr. Richardson was airlifted to Vanderbilt Medical Center where he passed away on Friday.
Those responding to the wreck were the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Macon County Sheriffs Department, Macon County EMS, Lafayette Fire Department, and the Macon County Chronicle.
