Dobbs Arraigned For Assault & Attempted Aggravated Robbery

On Friday, October 13, 2017, a Lafayette man was arraigned in Macon County Criminal Court on charges of aggravated assault and attempted aggravated robbery, relating to an arrest by the Police Department, on Church Street, in January of this year.

On Wednesday, January 25, the Lafayette Police Department was dispatched shortly after noon to 805 Church Street, following a 911 call reporting that Jeffrey A. Amons had been assaulted by Travis T. Dobbs.
According to LPD Detective Shane Reed, Jeff Amons and Travis T. Dobbs had been to Cookeville and when they returned they went to Jeff’s house on Church Street.
“They were in Jeff’s kitchen and apparently Travis Dobbs had been drinking,” said Detective Reed. “Travis got up and went outside while Jeff was talking on the phone. When Jeff got off the phone, Travis came back in and hit him in the head twice with a pipe wrench.”
Detective Reed says that Travis and Jeff began to fight. “Travis grabbed a knife and began stabbing Jeff in the chest several times.”
Jeff Amons was transported to Skyline Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Mr. Dobbs was transported to Macon County General Hospital and after he was released he was arrested by the Lafayette Police Department. Dobbs is on parole out of Nashville.
The indictment reads:
The Grand Jurors of Macon County, Tennessee, duly empanelled and sworn upon their oath present that Travis T. Dobbs on January 25, 2017, in Macon County, Tenn., and before the finding of this indictment, did unlawfully, intentionally or knowingly commit an assalt which resulted in serious bodily injury to Jeffery Amons, in violation of Tennessee Code Annotated, and against the peace and dignity of the State of Tennessee.
The Grand Jurors of Macon County, Tennessee, duly empanelled and sworn upon their oath present that Travis T. Doss on January 25, 2017, in Macon County, Tennessee, and before the finding of this indictment, did unlawfully, intentionally or knowingly, attempt to commit aggravated robbery by taking from the person of Jeffery Amons certain property, to wit: approximately $8,000 cash money, of value, by violence or putting Jeffery Amons in fear, the robbery accomplished with a deadly weapon or by the displaying of any article used or fashioned to lead Jeffery Amons to reasonably believe the article to be a deadly weapon in violation of Tennessee Code Annotated and against the peace and dignity of the State of Tennessee.
Travis Dobbs is scheduled to be back in court on February 12, 2018.
