Firemen Answer Mutual Aid Call

On Wednesday morning, November 29, the Lafayette Fire Department answered a mutual aid call from the Trousdale County Fire Department to Highway 10 South at the county line, where a car hauler was on fire.

According to Trousdale County Fire Chief Jimmy Anthony, the car hauler was loaded with seven vehicles, all 2010 thru 2017 models, and five were completely destroyed. The loss of the hauler and the autmobiles was estimated at over $50,000.
“The call came in to the Hartsville Trousdale County Fire Department at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning,” said Chief Jimmy Anthony, “reporting a vehicle fire at the Trousdale/Macon County line on Highway 10. After firefighters arrived at the scene they had the fire under control within 30 minutes, with help from the Lafayette Fire Department and a tanker truck.”
There were five firefighters from Hartsville at the fire scene.
Responding to the fire from Lafayette were Lt. Michael Bransford, Barry Newberry, Josh Biles, Lt. Phillip Smith, and Assistant Fire Chief Don Stevens, along with Tanker 29.
The car hauler was owned by Swod Trucking LLC, out of Jefferson, Ga., and the vehicles belonged to Mid-South Autos, Inc., in Tompkinsville, Kentucky.
Those responding to the scene from Macon County were the Lafayette Fire Department, Macon County Chronicle, and the Macon County Sheriffs Office.
