One-Year-Old Tests Positive for Meth

A Macon County man has been charged with aggravated child abuse after his 14-month-old child tested positive for methamphetamine.

According to the affidavit of complaint filed by Officer Joseph Woodard at the Macon County Sheriffs Department, a search warrant was served at 332 Hillsdale Estates Lane in November of 2017.
The search warrant was obtained after months of gathering information from traffic stops made leaving the residence and additional information given to officers.
Thirty-three-year-old Dustin Coleman, another gentleman, a woman, and their small child were inside the home at the time of the search.
During their search, officers discovered a large, clear plastic bag with a green, leafy substance inside that had the odor of marijuana, 7 clear, plastic bags with a crystal substance inside that field tested positive for meth, white pills in an unlabeled bottle, three sets of digital scales, two Altoids cans and a coffee can containing a green, leafy substance inside believed to be marijuana, pill grinders, $100 cash, a case of shotgun shells, multiple smoke pipes, straws and rolling papers.
The Department of Children’s Services was called to the scene due to the 14-month-old child being inside the home where the drugs were found.
The child’s drug test results recently came in and he/she tested positive for methamphetamine in their system.
Dustin Coleman was charged with manufacture of narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia and aggravated child abuse.
His bond was set at $131,000.
Additional charges are pending in this case.
