Bulldogs Split with Clay County

The RBS Bulldogs recorded their first win of the season this week as they split a pair of games with Clay County.

On Monday Mar 26th Clay Co traveled to Red Boiling Springs. RBS plated one run in the bottom of the 1st and five in the bottom of the 4th inning to capture a 6-0 win. Matthew Murphy threw a one hit shut-out and struck-out 5 batters in the complete game for the victory. Murphy was also 2 for 3 at the plate while Devin Justice was 2 for 4. Kendall Thompson, Murphy, Justice, Jaylen Hoffey, and Aaron Cherry(2) all had RBIs in the game.

In the return game the next day in Celina, Clay Co got some revenge and won 14-0 in five innings. Kendall Thompson recorded the loss throwing 1/3 of an inning allowing 7 runs on 2 hits, but none were earned. Jaylen Hoffey and Logan Watlington came on in relief and threw 3 2/3 innings allowing 2 hits and 5 earned runs. The Bulldogs committed five errors in the contest. Thompson was 2 for 2 at the plate and  Hoffey and Watlington had the only other hits for RBS.
