Pistols Taken in R Tac Break-In

By Debbie Gregory

Fifteen pistols were reportedly taken from R Tac, located at 209 Public Square, when the business was broken into during the early morning hours of Tuesday, April 3.

According to Lafayette Chief of Police Stacy Gann, around 2:00 a.m. on April 3, Patrolmen Elliot Sandifer and Josh McClard, along with Sgt. Jeff Hix were dispatched to an alarm at R Tac. Upon arrival they saw that a window was broken out.

“After clearing the building and finding no one inside,” said Chief Gann, “the officers noticed the viewing case, where pistols are kept, was broken into. The officers recovered a baseball bat that was laying in the floor.”

“Lt. Jason Roberts was called to the scene,” continued Chief Gann, “and after viewing video tape, a car pulled up in front of the business, after going around the square the wrong way. Three individuals exited the vehicle and proceeded to break out the window. After entering the building they smashed the gun case and took 15 pistols, and then ran out.”

“At this time we are actively investigating this break in and we are pursuing leads,” added Chief Gann.
