By Jessie Williams

A 57-year-old Lafayette man was arrested Thursday, April 12, after authorities discovered drugs and guns inside a Spring Hill Road residence during a search.

According to a report filed at the Macon County Sheriff’s Office, the Tennessee State Probation Office arrived at the home for a probation visit, due to a sex offender residing there.

While inside, officers noticed a substance that appeared to be marijuana.

A joint investigation ensued between the state probation office and the Macon County Sheriff’s Department, and a search warrant was obtained.

During their search, officers discovered a bag and a Mason jar that both contained a substance believed to be marijuana, three glass smoking pipes, handguns, long guns and ammunition for the weapons.

Additional paraphernalia, including rolling papers, was also found.

Items were seized by authorities and the drugs were sent to the TBI lab for analysis and weight.

Gary Lynn Fuqua was arrested for possession of a Schedule VI drug and possession of drug paraphernalia.

This investigation is still pending.
