Family Loses Everything in Fire

By Debbie Gregory

A Red Boiling Springs family lost everything in a fire that destroyed their rental home on Whitley Hollow Road.

According to a report by RBS Fire Chief Randall Bray, the Red Boiling Springs Fire Department was called to a structure fire on Whitley Hollow Road around 1:40 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, April 29, and upon arrival the one-story brick house was engulfed with flames and smoke. RBS Gas had to come out and shut off a line.

Several people reported hearing some kind of an explosion before fire broke out at the residence, which is located next to Big Ed’s BBQ.

The home was owned by Danny Gentry and was occupied by Mildred Likens and family.

There were 10 firefighters at the fire site and Josh Watson was in charge of the scene. The fire department was called back to the scene twice when the fire rekindled.

Those responding to the site were RBS Fire, RBS Police Department, Macon County EMS, and the Macon County Chronicle
