First Tennessee Bank Opens Financial Center in Lafayette

Tennessee’s oldest bank is honored to begin serving the Macon County community following the merger with Capital Bank.

Conversion is now complete at the former Capital Bank in Lafayette, TN, which is now a First Tennessee Bank financial center, following the December 2017 merger of First Tennessee Bank and Capital Bank.

“We’re excited to begin this new chapter as a member of the First Tennessee family,” said Lafayette branch manager Sharon Day. “Our customers can look forward to seeing the same friendly faces they’ve become accustomed to at Capital Bank over the years, now with all of the products and resources that First Tennessee has to offer.”

Founded in 1864, First Tennessee is the oldest bank in Tennessee, with the largest deposit market share in Tennessee. The bank operates 350 branches across the southeast U.S., and has one of the highest customer retention rates of any bank in the country. First Tennessee has also been recognized as one of the nation’s best employers by Working Mother and American Banker magazines and the National Association for Female Executives.

The Lafayette branch of Capital Bank finished last year ranked #5 within the Capital Bank network and as a result, Day was honored along with 15 other Capital Bank branch managers with inclusion in the First Tennessee Diamond Circle for her efforts on behalf of the bank, its employees and its customers. Day hopes that bank customers old and new will stop in, say hello and think of First Tennessee as their community bank for years to come. “It’s a great time for our community,” said Day, “and we look forward to continuing to serve the families and businesses of Macon County.”
