Over 100 marijuana plants were seized and destroyed by Macon County Sheriff’s Department detectives on Monday, June 4.
According to Macon County Sheriff Mark Gammons, a concerned citizen reported a possible marijuana growing operation on the northeast side of Macon County and detectives arrived at the scene to investigate.
Over 100 small plants believed to be grown for the purpose of resale, were found by officers.
The sheriff says summer is the season for setting marijuana plants and citizens should remain aware of their surroundings and report anything suspicious.
“Please be aware of any trespassing or strange activity and call us to investigate,” he said. “Callers may remain anonymous.”
This case is still under investigation and suspects are being established.
